फेरी अर्को अपहरणको असफल प्रयास

हिजो साँझ अफिसबाट घर फर्कदै गर्दा बीच बाटोमा ट्राफिक जाममा परियो। साँझको बेला थियो, अनी अफिस पनि बन्द भएको सायद तेही कारणले गर्दा जाम भएको हुन सक्ने प्रारम्भिक अनुमान गरे। यद्दपी धेरै बेर कुर्नु परे पछी बैकल्पिक बाटो खोजी म अगाडि बढे, अलिक अगाडी पुगे पछी सुने की मेरो टोल नजिकै अपहरणकारीहरूले एउटा स्कूल पढ्ने बच्चालाई अपहरण गर्ने प्रयास गरेको रहेछ तर स्थानीयवासीहरु त्यो प्रयासलाई असफल पार्दै अपहरणकारीहरू मध्ये एक जनालाई कब्जामा लिएछन र कुटपिट गरेछन।

After hearing the people gossiping of the above incident, I out of curiosity approached them to ask more about what had happened. I was told that the abductor was severely beaten up by the locals and had the police not reached the site on time, he could have been killed. They also mentioned that two of his fellow colleagues managed to escape the scene before being caught up by the angry mob.

म लागे घटनास्थल तर्फ। करीब 2km वर नै मैले असुरक्षित महशुस गरेर आफ्नो सवारी साधन तेही अढाएर हिड्दै त्यहाँ पुगे। करीब ४०० जना भन्दा बढी प्रहरी आइपुगी सकेका रहेछन। बालक अपहरण गर्न खोजेको आरोप लगाउँदै स्थानीयवासीहरुले उक्त अपहरणकारीलाई मरणासन्न हुने गरी पिटेका रहेछन्। बुझ्दा थाहा पाइयोकी तीनजनाको समूहमा रहेका ती अपहरणकारीहरूले बच्चालाई अपहरणहेतु फकाउदा-फकाउदै पक्राउ परेका रहेछन। सुरुमा तीनजनाको समूहमा रहेका ती अपहरणकारीहरूलाई स्थानीयवासीहरुले सोधपूछ गर्नथाले पछी दुई जना भाग्न सफल भएछन। कुटपिटको क्रममा प्रहरीले हस्तछेप गरे पछी र त्यो अपहरणकारीलाई बल प्रयोग गरी प्रहरीले आफ्नो नियन्त्रणमा लिएपछी स्थानीयवासी प्रहरीविरुद्ध ढुंगा प्रहार गर्दै प्रदर्शनमा उत्रिएका रहेछन। भीड अनियन्त्रित भएपछि प्रहरीले बल प्रयोग गरी केही राउण्ड अश्रुग्याँससमेत छोडेको रहेछ।

I was shocked to witness the abductor being transported to hospital by the policemen. I wanted to politely ask the policemen out there if they would have spared the abductor in the event that the child being kidnapped was their own son/daughter or one of their relatives!!!

सोचे चूप बस्नु नै उत्तम हुन्छ र केही बेर पछी त्यहाँबाट निस्केर घर तर्फ लागे।

With increasing numbers of abduction and kidnap cases in Nepal in recent months for ransom, what do you think should be done to minimize such hideous practices?

Why do you think such cases are increasing day by day? Do you opine that this is due to frequent political changes in the country? Do you think this is happening due to the inefficiency of the security organs like Nepal Police? Or is it due our own negligence?

What should be done to Khyati's murderers?

Today is 04th July 2009. We have read/heard the latest updates on Khyati's case on today's newspaper/radio media. Most of you are aware of the development on this case.

What do you think should be done to Khyati's murderer - Biren Shrestha and Merina Shakya? Should we simply let the Police and the court decide their fate?

Don't these ruthless murderers deserve to be hanged to death? Though there is no provision of death penalty in Nepal's so-called law, shouldn't this duo be given the maximum punishment, which is the capital punishment?
